Windows Server 2008 and VMware Server

I had occasion to set up Windows Server 2008 onto a VMware Server recently. Install went fine, choosing the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise profile. Only problem was that there was no network. I ended up editing the .vmx configuration file and adding the line:

Ethernet0.virtualDev = “e1000”

That seemed to solve it. So, if you have network problems with Windows Server 2008 under VMware Server, that might solve it for you too.

Backspacing

It’s that time of the evening. The time when, as I write, I find my use of the backspace key to correct mistakes, increases tenfold. When that time of the evening arrives differs from night to night, sometimes during the day. It’s a sure indicator that I’ve been writing too long or too intensely on a given day, as has been the case of late.

I suppose that’s a new term of sorts, used to describe a person whose mind isn’t entirely into their work or whose mind might be in the work but the fingers can no longer muster the energy to fire the correct keypresses in the proper order.

Backspacing on into the night.

Been Awhile

It’s been awhile since I’ve written in here. Again. I always try to write more here but my writing time has been used by other writing projects and software development time. Oh well, happy new year.
