Microsoft TechNet I'm not all Linux all the time, sorry! I wrote three articles for Microsoft's TechNet Subscriber zone in 2004. A couple of the articles were on DNS and one on basic TCP/IP troubleshooting. It's actually very nice to work with people from Microsoft-centric backgrounds every now and again. |

Software I'm mostly inactively throwing minor development time into some open source projects. Quite some time ago I added four or five lines of code for Siege that got included. I also packaged up Parrot into a Debian package a while back, though it is terribly old now. I also wrote a little utility to look through the /sys filesystem, take a look in the software page for more info. As one might expect, I've also written countless and varied shell and perl scripts of questionable repute that get the job done nonetheless. Feel free to jump to the software page. |
Books, articles, and other time wasters.

Beginning Perl Web Development is a sole-authorship project published by Apress. The book has been well-received and includes a few fun Perl and SOAP bits that some people are finding helpful.
I took this book over from Robert Ziegler for its third edition. There's a lot of new material within the book and other various updates. Anyone wanting to implement iptables or firewalling in Linux might find this book helpful. I also included specific information on securing Linux based on my experience working in ISP environments for years. It should be noted, due to some confusion, that even though this book was published under the Novell Press moniker, it's not affiliated with Novell or SuSE and will work on every flavor of Linux that I've encountered. Most of the book was written using a Debian host.
